Navigating the Storm in Covid-19 Era

This is how it is like for the Solo Lawyer. Operating partly at home, and partly in office during the Movement Control Order (MCO) . Minimal Staff. SOPs . The ravages of Covid-19 are felt across the Globe. Definitely, our region is no exception.  It will be remembered in Eternity as the worst calamity the World has ever known. I took this selfie for posterity.
We have Temporal Measures Act to deal with all legal obligations during the new normal. This is part of the government’s response to mitigate the effects and giving support to the people. Examples of cases covered are , among others, hire purchase on motor vehicles for personal use, public, trade, and  tourism uses. The list may be extended in the  “Scheduled contract List” under the Act. Simply put, the Act attempts to allow  for certain flexibility in legal obligations that cannot be carried out due to the restrictions posed by Covid-19. The State of Emergency was also declared  on 12 January 2021 until August 2021, and it is  not yet confirmed whether it will be extended. Our State of Sarawak’s Election was supposed to be held  this year, but it was put on hold until the expiry of the Emergency or the situation has improved.
We extend our services to those facing  any legal issues due to inabilitty to perform contractual obligations during covid-19 Control Orders or any offences from any alleged breach under the various Control Orders      ( MCO ).
